About Beesy Candles
Beesy's Beeswax Candles was established early in 2010 in Auchtermuchty in Fife, with the hope of rejuvenating an old hobby of mine, while promoting the benefits of beeswax candles and looking after bees in general.
It quickly grew from being simply a hobby to a business which has exhibited at lots of different events, from small local craft fairs to large trade shows. The "premises" have also grown from the candles and giftboxes all being made on the dining table to them now being individually produced in my dedicated workshop in Glenrothes in Fife, that is, a spare bedroom of my house.
But why are beeswax candles great? Well, apart from being a more traditional type of candle loved by royalty and the church, beeswax candles do not drip as much as other types of wax, burn more slowly, don't smoke and are reputed to alleviate the symptoms of asthma, hayfever and respiratory problems. Some even believe that they purify the air. They are also not a byproduct of the oil industry and come from a renewable and sustainable source. Similarly, all of my handmade giftboxes are completely reusable or recyclable, as well as looking lovely. And I'm sure that you realise that absolutely nothing at Beesy's is mass produced, rather everything is made in very small batches, all handrolled, handmade or handpoured by myself, sometimes with a little bit of help from my daughter.
Regarding inspiration for my candle shapes and colours, well I grew up in Galloway and between there and my current home of Fife, it influences me to produce lot of tree and hill shapes and beautiful colours evocative of rural landscapes.
Thank you very much for your support!
All the best,
